Regency Nissan Delivers 4 GT-RRRR
August 12th, 2008 marks a milestone in Regency Nissan's 25 year history! The Nissan GT-R, supercar with pedigree that date back to 1969, finally arrives in our showroom. The original Nissan GT-R was developed as a high performance model of the Skyline in Japan. This all-wheel drive turbocharged sedan broke records that astounded high performance manufacturers. The first four owners of RegencyAuto's allocated GT-Rs have waited a long time for this show stopping vehicle and now are discovering the continent. We at Regency thank them for their patience and support and look forward to hearing their stories. Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson commented... "Does the Nissan's ability reduce the driving pleasure? Not at all. You can turn all the systems off if you so choose, and it's still supremely well balanced, no doubt a delight for a racing driver on a track." (Jeremy Clarkson has driven the most exotic and best cars in the world: Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg CCX, Ultima GT-R, Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Murcialago LP640, Porsche Carerra GT, Porsche GT-3 RS, Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, etc...) Regency Auto Group's president states that Regency Nissan will not be a part of a program that charges over MSRP for this rare gem.

2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible to get 'shine time' in Bloomingdale's Holiday Catalog
The upcoming 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible will be offered in the 2008 Bloomingdale's Holiday Catalog. According to a Infiniti spokesman the G37 Convertible will be sold through the Bloomingdale's annual catalog but it is unclear whether it will be a special-edition model or not. We're guessing Infiniti may 'trick' out the G37 Convertible with a couple of visual upgrades for the catalog just like Neiman Marcus does with the BMW M6 Convertible, Lexus IS-F and the Hennessey Venom 700NM. Infiniti released a side-view of the 2009 Convertible this weekend at Pebble Beach with the full reveal scheduled for the LA Auto Show in November. Sales will kick off in mid-2009.

Paul McCartney's Lexus LS 600h Spotted
Considering the furor it created, I had fully expected the LS 600hL gift that Lexus airfreighted to Paul McCartney would never see the light of day. However, Sir Paul was recently spotted being chauffeured around London in the dark maple red hybrid. Also of note: Such is vegetarian Sir Paul's passion for issues surrounding animal rights and the environment that he took out the leather interior and had it replaced with cloth. The singer demanded that no animal products were used in his new car and it has been fitted with a hand-stitched green woven fabric. Lexus said of the decision to send the vehicle by plane: 'To ensure the car's quality and security, as well as to meet marketing deadlines, it was airshipped on a regularly-scheduled commercial flight to the UK.'

Toyota to have hybrid in each of its product lines by 2020
Advanced powertrain program manager Justin Ward says that Toyota is really confident that it will have hybrid models in each of its product lines by 2020. The Japanese automaker, which has sold more than 1 million hybrids, estimated that it has saved 7 million tons of carbon dioxide. Currently Toyota has three hybrid models in its lineup including the Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. It will reveal the next-generation Toyota Prius at that 2009 Detroit auto show followed by a plug-in version of the Prius in early 2011 that will be powered by lithium-ion batteries. It was recently reported that Toyota will drop plans to produce the Supra and FJ Cruiser from its product plans and will concentrate on a hybrid version of the Venza crossover and Sienna minivan - both expected to arrive in 2012. A dedicated Lexus hybrid model will also make its debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.

Confusion surrounds car dealer deposits.
Deceptive deposit-taking practices at B.C. car dealers have prompted regulators to issue a new directive explaining dealers' obligations. "A quarter of the consumer complaints we investigate deal with deposit issues," Motor Vehicle Sales Authority of B.C. deputy registrar Ian Christman said in an interview. "Most dealers want to do the right thing, but some try to avoid [provincial regulations] and that's what we're concerned about." Christman said his office has investigated 262 complaints in the past year because of confusion surrounding deposits taken for motor-vehicle purchases.

Comparison: 2008 BMW X6 xDrive35i vs. 2009 Infiniti FX35 AWD
"Perfectly pointless." After taking the X6 xDrive 35i home for a night, that's how editor-in-chief MacKenzie summarizes the X6. It's a damning critique of BMW's latest as a flawless execution of a worst-of-both-worlds concept: sport-coupe practicality with SUV-like handling. Not only does his characterization misinterpret reams of BMW's finest marketing literature, it directly contradicts the opinion of resident snapper Vance. He took the same Bimmer to San Diego the next day and came back declaring the X6 the sexiest German import since Heidi Klum. Who's right? Who's wrong? We decided to find out by pitting the X6 xDrive 35i against its clearest rival, the 2009 Infiniti FX35.
