All-New Second Generation Touareg - First Drive
When the Touareg was first launched in 2004, Volkswagen was already fashionably late to the SUV party and needed to make a solid impression. While most of us expected the archetypal suburban utility vehicle, VW instead introduced a vehicle with the off-road worthiness of a Range Rover and the comfort of the best luxury sedans, genuinely impressing everyone with its ability to take passengers comfortably to the farthest reaches of terrain. With a true low-range gearbox, locking center and rear diffs, electronically adjustable ride height, variable rate shock absorbers and a plethora of electronic gizmos, the Touareg was a much larger tour de force than any of us expected -- it even captured Motor Trend's Truck of the Year award in 2004. So after selling close to 500,000 units since its introduction the time has come for an all-new second generation. Bigger and stronger, yet lighter and more economical, the new model has received significant improvements; after driving it in Europe we can report that it is a worthy sequel to the original.

Initial Quality of Model Launches Improves Considerably, Led by New Entries
The Initial Quality Study serves as the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership. The study is used extensively by manufacturers worldwide to help them design and build better vehicles and by consumers to help them in their vehicle purchase decisions. Initial quality has been shown over the years to be an excellent predictor of long-term vehicle durability, which directly impacts consumer purchase decisions. The study captures problems experienced by owners in two distinct categories--designrelated problems and defects and malfunctions.

2011 version of QX56 expected to boost model's sales
Infiniti is counting big on its 2011 version of the QX56 to increase sales for the model, which has been suffering along with the rest of the segment as buyers move towards more fuel-efficient and smaller options. However, with more power and more fuel-efficiency, the 2011 QX56 is expected to recapture some of the full-size large SUV market. "We will have months when we sell 800 to 900 of these," Ben Poore, Infiniti's vice president in charge of sales and marketing, told Edmunds.

Toyota working on car powered solely by solar energy
According to the Nikkei Japanese newspaper, Toyota is working on a compact-car that will be solely powered by solar energy. The newspaper said that it will be years before the vehicle ever makes it to the markets but Toyota is quickly looking for ways to differentiate itself in the "green car" market. Nikkei said that the Japanese automaker is currently working on an electric-car that gets some of its power from solar cells and will later develop a model that will be totally powered by solar cells mounted onto the roof of the vehicle. While Toyota forecasted its first operating loss in 70 years last month, it is still the leader in green technology and Toyota executives have emphasized that they will not cut back on environmental research despite the company's financial troubles. Toyota is expected to gain knowledge of solar energy in vehicle use from its partner, Panasonic Corp., which currently produces batteries for its hybrid cars.

Confusion surrounds car dealer deposits.
Deceptive deposit-taking practices at B.C. car dealers have prompted regulators to issue a new directive explaining dealers' obligations. "A quarter of the consumer complaints we investigate deal with deposit issues," Motor Vehicle Sales Authority of B.C. deputy registrar Ian Christman said in an interview. "Most dealers want to do the right thing, but some try to avoid [provincial regulations] and that's what we're concerned about." Christman said his office has investigated 262 complaints in the past year because of confusion surrounding deposits taken for motor-vehicle purchases.

Regency Nissan Delivers 4 GT-RRRR
August 12th, 2008 marks a milestone in Regency Nissan's 25 year history! The Nissan GT-R, supercar with pedigree that date back to 1969, finally arrives in our showroom. The original Nissan GT-R was developed as a high performance model of the Skyline in Japan. This all-wheel drive turbocharged sedan broke records that astounded high performance manufacturers. The first four owners of RegencyAuto's allocated GT-Rs have waited a long time for this show stopping vehicle and now are discovering the continent. We at Regency thank them for their patience and support and look forward to hearing their stories. Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson commented... "Does the Nissan's ability reduce the driving pleasure? Not at all. You can turn all the systems off if you so choose, and it's still supremely well balanced, no doubt a delight for a racing driver on a track." (Jeremy Clarkson has driven the most exotic and best cars in the world: Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg CCX, Ultima GT-R, Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Murcialago LP640, Porsche Carerra GT, Porsche GT-3 RS, Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, etc...) Regency Auto Group's president states that Regency Nissan will not be a part of a program that charges over MSRP for this rare gem.
